All India Institute of Medical Sciences Delhi (also known as AIIMS Delhi or All India Medical Institute Delhi) was established in 1952. It was granted the 'Autonomous' status in 1956 by an Act of Parliament. AIIMS Delhi is the first AIIMS to be established in the country and is recognised as an Institute of National Importance.
